When a family member’s life nears end, the difficult challenges begin.

The doctor says, “Your family member is terminally ill with no hope for cure.”

The hospital says, “We can no longer help the patient, and we will discharge him.”

The rabbi says, “All steps must be taken to preserve the patient’s life.”

The patient appears to be suffering and in pain, and you don’t know where to turn.

Chaim Aruchim is a project of Agudath Israel of America. Our mission is to help Jewish individuals and families facing “end of life” challenges.

Together with your Rav, we will work with health care providers to ensure that decisions will be implemented in accordance with halacha.  If necessary, we can put you in touch with knowledgeable poskim when halachic issues arise.

We can help you find an appropriate setting in the New York State area when a hospital says it can no longer help the patient, and to ensure that your rights as a religious Jew are understood, respected, and accommodated.
