A Message From Chaim Aruchim

Due to the overwhelming amount of cases where Managed Medicare companies are refusing to pay for life sustaining services, Chayim Aruchim encourages people to enroll in Original Traditional Medicare with a supplementary plan. This will ensure you will have ALL your services covered should the need arise. Everything is covered without any prior approval requirements.

Free Tutoring Offered To students With IEPs

The Hunter College Learning Lab offers free one-on-one tutoring for students with IEPs, provided by teacher candidates being trained in Hunter’s Graduate Program for Learning Disabilities. Tutoring is offered twice per week for three locations in Manhattan. These children get the benefit of a graduate level tutor who is creating individualized lessons for reading, writing, and math interventions for each student. In addition, the program partners with schools throughout the city to provide after-school tutoring at those school sites. Children must have a current Individualized Education Program (IEP). The Learning Lab is not for children with significant cognitive impairments or whose primary need is behavioral. Children who attend public or private schools can attend. Applications are available by visiting www.tinyurl.com/hclearnapp.

Organ Transplant Advocacy

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is seeking feedback from the public to identify “potential system-wide improvements.” People with disabilities are frequently denied equal access to transplants and providers often falsely assume that individuals in this population — especially those with intellectual disabilities — will have worse outcomes after receiving transplants than others. CMS said it is looking for input on what changes can be made to ensure that transplant programs provide equal access to people with disabilities, among other issues.
