Family Reimbursement Funding

Sinergia announced that reimbursement funds are available for people who live in Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens for things such as furniture, respite services, adaptive equipment and clothing. Individuals must be eligible through the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), reside with family and not in a self-direction program. The application deadline is June 12. College Scholarships For The Blind

Team See Possibilities (TSP) is a nonprofit that offers college scholarships to students who are blind or visually impaired. Applicants will be high school seniors and college undergraduates, as well as those attending a trade or vocational school. The deadline to apply is April 30. NYC ASL Video Phone Service For The Deaf

The New York City Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities and the city Department of Social Services established a service called ASL Direct, which allows people who are deaf to communicate with staff who are fluent in American Sign Language via videophone. It allows people who cannot communicate through a typical phone call to learn about city services and benefits such as cash assistance, supplemental nutrition assistance and Medicaid. NJ Summer Camp Funding

CSOC has extended the Summer Camp Services application deadline to May 30, 2020.  This will be the last day to submit online applications, and paper/mailed applications must be postmarked by the new deadline. Applications that list the original deadline of April 30 will still be accepted. It is preferable for families to apply for Summer Camp Services online through the Family Portal on the PerformCare website. Due to changes in CSOC/PerformCare operations, submitting applications online will have a faster processing time.  Families may also submit eligibility applications for CSOC intellectual and developmental disability services through the portal to expedite the eligibility process.
