Chronic Illness Magazine--- Endurance, a magazine for frum women challenged by chronic illness, has just been released. Gain support, practical advice, validation and inspiration, and enjoy the camaraderie inherently shared when belonging to a worldwide community of women who truly 'get it'. Early Childhood Mental Health Program---Ohel in Brooklyn has started a free mental health program for children up to age 5. Services are provided by culturally sensitive therapists and can be provided at their Tikvah clinic, daycare sites, or schools. For more information contact 800-603-OHEL.

  • Residential opening for a woman in Borough Park: Ohel Bais Ezra has a 10 bed Residence located in the heart of Borough Park off 13th avenue which currently has an opening for one woman.   The residence is a three story home consisting of five bedrooms. Each bedroom is shared by two of the women. The home has two separate kitchens and dining rooms, which have been made into  Dairy and Meat kitchen for dietary purposes.  The women who live in the home range from 35 years old to 70 years old. Most of the women in the home, regardless of age, are youthful and vibrant and love being active in the community. On any given day, a group  of women are out shopping, eating at local restaurants, getting manicures, going to the local Y, attending concerts or enjoying some quiet time at home.    The home also enjoys an array of on site activities including art, drawing and dance.  The women of the home benefit from a mixture of both longstanding staff which contribute to a familial and warm home environment, and youthful staff who bring energy and excitement to daily activities.  The women benefit from a supportive, person-centered environment where they are nurtured and respected by their circle of support and given opportunities to pursue their interests, develop friendships and feel a sense of acceptance and belonging.   The women participate in the local community, attending local shuls on Shabbos and maintaining  friendships with local community families.  

  • Opening for independent young woman in Flatbush supportive apartment: Ohel Bais Ezra has a 3 bed supportive (non 24 hour) apartment located in the heart of Flatbush, Brooklyn which currently has an opening for one woman. The home is the 2nd floor of a 2 story house and there are 3 bedrooms, one for each woman. There is a dining room, living room, and kitchen that the women all share. The women in the home are friendly, artistic, love animals and love to bake. They enjoy traveling and have gone on vacation to Israel and Florida. They also enjoy going to Shul on Shabbat, Broadway shows, Shabbatons, and enjoy spending time with their neighbors and children. During the week the women go to volunteer sites as well as their Day Habilitation programs. The appropriate candidate for this apartment setting needs to have independent skills in the following area: Cooking, Shopping, Budgeting, Medication Management, room maintenance, and the ability to independently go to the doctor when needed. There is a nurse available to monitor the medical care of the women as well as direct care staffing during the week at times to meet the women’s needs and assist with all areas of independence.  

  • Opening for ​ male in 24 hour residence located in the heart of Manhattan: Ohel Bais Ezra East Broadway is an 11 bed IRA located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan which currently has an opening for one young man. The residence is a 5 story home consisting of 10 bedrooms. All but one room are private single bedrooms. The vacancy is for a single bedroom.  The home has two separate kitchens, which have been made into Dairy and Meat kitchens for dietary purposes. There is a living/dining room area on the 3rd floor, and an exercise area on the first floor​. The men who live in the home range in age, with the  programming being tailored to the interests and abilities of the diverse group of men.     The men live on different floors and the vacancy is currently located on the 5th floor where 4  young men reside who are in their 20s-30s. There is an elevator on site;  however, the appropriate candidate needs to be able to ambulate with stairs during regular fire drills. The residence is seeking an appropriate candidate to join these men who is  compatible with regard to age and capabilities. During the day the men attend Day Hab programs, volunteer, or work in the community.  This Lower East Side home, located in the heart of Manhattan, affords an array of interesting activities that tap into the cultural and recreational opportunities available in New York City.  During the week there are music and art classes given.​  On Sundays,  the home takes trips in the community to sporting venues, arcade, movies, bowling, museums, etc.  The surrounding community boasts of many synagogues where the men regularly participate for minyan, with some forging warm relationships with local community members.  Some of the men also attend weekend Shabbatons.
