L’Chaim Shidduch Meetings---A L’Chaim shidduch meeting for Physically Challenged or Medical Issues is scheduled for February 6, 2017. It will be held at the home of Bruchy Solomon, 3 Trumper Road (off Stonehouse Dr.), Spring Valley, NY at 8:15 pm. Come to present information on someone you know and help make shidduchim!

IBD Event---A downloadable recording of the recent JCCSG Crohn’s & Colitis event for women is available at JCCSG Event #11 - 11/29/16 - CrownHeights. CDs of the event are also available for sale at Keren Shmiel Shaya kiosks and Shul locations.

YACHAD Fellowship------YACHAD is seeking outstanding post-college graduates who are thoughtful and concerned about the broader Jewish community. This year-long Fellowshipwill support the Fellows’ development in working as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team aimed to meet the social and inclusion needs of Jewish individuals with diverse disabilities. This includes, but is not limited to, Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental challenges, deaf and hard of hearing, physical disabilities, and medical health and mental health needs. It aims to shape emerging leaders who plan to go into careers in social work, psychology, medicine, education, not-for-profit management, development, public relations, policy planning or organizational leadership; or those who hope to serve the broader Jewish community in a lay leadership capacity.

  1. Fellowship Dates: September 2017 – June 2018 (Starting and End Date Flexible)
  2. Stipend: $20,000

    * Strong GPA (minimum: 3.2; must provide transcript or notarized letter from university confirming GPA)

Beitar Girls Sibshop---New professional therapeutic support group opening in Beitar for sisters of children with special needs through “Tochnit 360.” The group will be led by a drama therapist and an art therapist, and is geared for sisters of children with special needs, grades 7-8. Accessible Neighborhood Planned---The government has approved a plan to build a fully accessible neighborhood that will integrate residents with and without disabilities. The residents will share residence space, leisure and employment. It is expected to house two thousand individuals. The neighborhood will take into consideration all the needs of the disabled beginning from the planning stages, and all buildings and services will be equally accessible to all residents – with or without disabilities. It will be compromised of accessible, smart apartments, a dedicated employment center for the integration of people with disabilities, accessible sports centers, including an extreme sports park that is the first of its kind in the world, a national institute for research and study of disabilities, and more.
