Tax Breaks for Parents of Disabled Children

Parents of children with severe learning disabilities may qualify for valuable income tax benefits thanks to some changes to the IRS tax codes.

 

For example, revenue ruling 78-340 authorizes a medical expense deduction for tuition or tutoring fees paid for a child with a severe learning disability who is attending a special school at the recommendation of the child’s doctor.  There is a guide that provides a brief summary of these benefits.  For information, follow the above link.
