Ventricular Septal Defects

Opening in the septum (wall) between the left and right ventricles of the heart. The only sign of a VSD is a heart murmur.  It can lead to overload, enlargement, and dysfunction of the right ventricle.  Significant VSD’s are usually closed surgically or through a device placed through a catheter threaded up into the heart through an artery in the leg.
