Renal Disorders

Any process that affects the structure or function of the kidneys.  They are divided into three sections, vascular, glomerular, and tubulointerstitial disorders.  Vascular diseases includes disorders affecting the arteries and veins supplying blood to the kidney.  Glomerular diseases usually present with high blood pressure, protienuria, and hematuria.  It can involve inflammation of the glomerulus with red and white blood cells in the urine and can result in a rapid decline in kidney function, or with large amounts of proteinuria.  Tubulointerstitial diseases are disorders affecting the tubules or the cells between the tubules of the kidney.  Drugs and infections mainly cause this type of disorder.
