Electroshock without the shock. That’s what two Israeli companies—Brainsway and Neuronix—are using to treat Alzheimer’s. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) zaps the brain with low-intensity electromagnetic waves to activate underused neural connections. Unlike electroshock, there’s no hospitalization and almost no risk of seizure. The EU approved the procedure for treating Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Autism, and smoking. The FDA okayed it for depression.
