Neuritis

                                                              

A nervous system disorder in which the nerves are inflamed, interfering with motor nerve and sensory function.  Symptoms include numbness, tingling, a pricking sensation, pain, weakness, and in extreme cases, paralysis.  Since there are numerous causes, such as nerve trauma or irritation, infection, autoimmune disease, leukemia, diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, toxemia of pregnancy, mercury or lead overexposure, alcohol abuse, etc, treatment depends on the primary disorder.
