Krabbe Disease

A genetic disorder that results in progressive degeneration of the myelin (white matter of the brain).  This causes delays or regression in mental and physical development.  It is a type of leukodystrophy which affects mostly people of Sweedish descent where both parents are carriers of the gene.  The average life expectancy for the child is about 2 years.  See leukodystrophy
