Hemochromatosis

A genetic disorder involving mutations in many different genes, all of which cause the body to be overloaded with iron.  These toxic levels of iron move into various tissues and organs, leading to life threatening damage.  Symptoms include joint pain, darkened skin color, fatigue, abdominal pain, or heart disease.  Treatment is to control the iron levels by adjusting diet and frequently drawing blood.
