Gaucher's disease

A hereditary metabolic disorder.  The most common form of lipidosis (fatty acid oxidation disorder) caused by missing enzymes which are needed to break down the fats in the body.  This causes toxic products to accumulate in the body’s tissues, leading to an enlarged liver and brownish pigmentation of the skin.  It is most common in Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern European descent. Treatment is by enzyme replacement therapy.
