Dengue Fever

 

                  

 

A flu like group of viral diseases with potentially fatal complications caused spread by mosquitoes.  Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, severe joint and muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, and rash.  Dengue hemorrhagic fever also includes damage to blood and lymph vessels, bruising, and bleeding from mucus membranes in the nose and mouth.  The are currently no medications available, and treatment focuses on reducing pain and fever and maintaining fluid volume and blood pressure.
