Cervical Spondylosis

A disorder caused by degeneration of the cartilage and bone in the cervical vertebrae (neck), often with mineral deposits in the cervical disks.  The spinal canal may also become stenosed (narrowed).  This can be caused by injury or aging.  Symptoms include pain, numbness or weakness in the arms, hands, fingers, and legs, loss of balance, popping or grinding in the neck, muscle spasms in the neck, and headache.  Treatment is by nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs, traction, or surgery.
