YOU GAVE ME THE KEY

Locked out with no key

To get inside

No bell, no doorman

All options were tried

I knock, I bang

Feeling alone and forsaken

I must get inside to stabilize

My world that was shaken

I yelled, I screamed

Many thought I’m absurd

But finally by someone

My plea was heard

The door was opened

Opened very wide

With much trepidation in my steps

I walked inside

I looked around

Asked do I really belong

Heard many unwanted voices

But kept myself strong

I’m here now

Because this is the thing to do

And today I’m witness

That my inkling was true

The door was locked

You gave me the key

Look at my child

For yourself you’ll see

He’s gone through many doors

Learned to feel and react

You taught; him there’s a world out there

And how to make contact

You are his home away from home

In every aspect

Yet taught him to love us, his parents

And siblings with so much respect

You stood by is in those trying times

And continue to do so today

With much gratitude we proclaim

Our child has come a long way

You taught our child to laugh

Showed him the definition of joy

Thank you for giving us back the cutest little boy

May G-d repay you as only He can ever

With much luck, happiness and blessing

In all your endeavors
